Press conference: European governments are falling to meet obligation for development aid-what kind of responsibility is this to developing world?

When: 22 May 2008 at 10am

Where: Galerija ŠKUC, Stari trg 21, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Description: Half way through 2015, European governments are still not fulfilling its obligation about development aid.  European confederation for relief and development CONCORD has reported that failing to deliver aid promises cost lives in developing countries.  In 2007, only 15 out of 27 EU countries have given promised 0.33 percent of gross national products for development aid.  However, 17 out of 27 EU member states, including Slovenia, in the last year have not met the promise and increased its official development aid, where 11 countries had even reduced the aid.  The main CONCORD report about aid effectiveness and recommendations from Slovenian non governmental organizations for effective development aid will be presented on press conference.

Speakers: Eva Marn, SLOGA chairman (SLOGA: Platform for Slovenian non governmental organizations for development cooperation and humanitarian aid)
Aleš Kranjc Kušlan, head of SLOGA working group for effective development aid
Robin Dewa, representative for Global action against poverty (GCAP) in Slovenia
