Women in armed conflicts-World meeting for general matter and foreign affairs, May 2008-05-08
The meetings will take place in Brussels from 26-27 May where SLOGA and other NGOs who deal with gender, HIV, sexual and reproductive health and rights, etc would like to take participation in the form to caution participants to rethink and put theme women in armed conflicts into more important agenda and not discuss it in informal World meeting for general matter and foreign affairs.
SLOGA has prepared petition with the aim to include problem of women in armed conflicts in formal meetings. The petition can be signed on SLOGA web site: http://www.sloga-platform.org/petition.
Slovenian presidency had taken problem of women in the conflicts very serious and has put it as one of the priorities. Together with Germany and Austria, Slovenia has prepared study »Enhancing the EU Response to Women and Armed Conflict with Particular Reference to Development Policy« where SLOGA has welcomed suggestions from the study about concrete actions that could help to start decline the numbers of women in the conflicts and to stimulate equal dialogue between men and women.
