International development aid-is Slovenia fulfilling its obligation?

Public debate on international development aid organized by Unicef and SLOGA has taken place ob 23rd April in Ljubljana.  The moderator was Vida Petrovčič with cooperation of mag. Maja Vojnovič (executive director of Unicef, Slovenia), dr. Maja Bučar (professor in faculty of Social Sciences), Barbara Kremžar (first secretariat for humanitarian and development aid in Ministry of foreign affairs) and Eva Marn (head of SLOGA council).  The speakers had paid attention to Slovenian aim for 2010 where Slovenia should give according to the obligation with European Union, 0.17% of Gross domestic products and increased the number in the future.  Dr. Maja Bučar has warned that Slovenia should double development aid in year 2007-2010 in order to meet political aims.  At the same time it should reinforce financial and human resource structures and improve structure of development politics with the aim for better transparency and defined centralization.  Barbara Kremžar has emphasised significance of international harmonized cooperation.  Eva Marn has stressed the important role civil society play in development aid.  Mag Maja Vujnovič has expressed the need for bigger development aid in Sub-Saharan African countries.
